We buy books because we know they hold knowledge and wisdom, but in 2022 there are plenty of other ways to absorb information.

If staring at a page for hours upon end feels like a daunting task then don’t feel you must put yourself through it. Using the time when you commute, cook, exercise or bathe to put on a quality podcast can be just as valuable as digging into a business book.

Here are 3 shows that have taught me an incredible amount about being self employed in the creative industry.

The Ground Up Show by Matt D’Avella

For those in the early stages of growth.

Matt D’Avella is a Netflix filmmaker, YouTuber & entrepreneur that explores minimalism, productivity, and habits.

Between 2017 and 2019 he created 111 episodes of The Ground Up Show, a podcast that interviews creators in the early stage of their business.

Matt has a lighthearted and entertaining approach to interviewing and consistently chose relatable guests.

The Futur Podcast with Chris Do.

For those who want to level up.

Chris Do is an Emmy award-winning designer, director, CEO and Chief Strategist.

He’s the founder of The Futur — an online education platform with the mission of teaching 1 billion people how to make a living doing what they love.

Every week he interviews successful creatives of all disciplines, and Chris is an expert in breaking down their stories into actionable advice.

The Tim Ferriss Show

For those obsessive about peak performance.

Entrepreneur and author of 5 NYT best sellers, Tim Ferriss interviews world class performers from all walks of life, distilling down what has allowed them to stand out from their competitors.

The guests and topics are wide ranging, but with over 500 episodes to choose from there’s a wealth of advice for those looking to get to the top.

3 episodes for creatives to start with: Hugh Jackman (episode #444), Jamie Foxx (#124) and Brian Grazer (#279).
